istorically, the town center has always occupied a prominent role in cultural life. People have lived, worked and thrived in and around town centers for decades. And yet, in the United States, we have strayed from this culturally rich concept. With the plethora of automobiles and suburban growth, the result has been sprawl.

Evolving out of our instinctive need for a sense of place and community is the resurgence of the “old-fashioned” town center. These town centers are pedestrian oriented and encompass a blend of eateries, shops and entertainment venues along with residential and office space all set in an open-air arrangement. Our return to this concept, where people can meet up with family, friends, and co-workers, is the inspiration for Providence Village - North Macon!
